Join the Hunt is a real-world puzzle race. You’ll travel to public checkpoints, crack riddles, take required selfies for verification, and collect the clues you need to solve the final Sunday puzzle.
Entry is $8. All you need is a smartphone and a sense of direction.
How It Works
1. Enter a Hunt
Choose an event in your area and register. After checkout, you’ll receive your unique access code for the locked clue portal.
2. Start with the First Clue
Clues unlock on a fixed schedule. Each one leads you to a different location in the event’s region.
3. Visit Each Checkpoint
Solve the riddle, find the correct on-site detail, and take a required selfie to verify you were there. (Selfies are only stored for audits.)
4. Collect Clue Fragments
Each location gives you a piece of information you’ll need for the final synthesis puzzle.
5. Solve the Final Puzzle
Sunday morning, you’ll receive the last riddle. Combine everything you found to reveal the winning location. First correct submission wins the prize.
Clue Schedule (Standard Format)
- Saturday: Clues release at 09:00, 11:00, 13:00, 15:00, and 17:00 (local time)
- Sunday: Final synthesis clue releases at 10:00 (local time)
- Monday: Winner is announced after verification, typically at or after 10:00
No hints. Sequential unlock. You must solve each stage, visit the location, and submit your answer and selfie to move forward.
A Skill-Based Contest
This is a contest of skill, not chance. Progress depends on your ability to interpret clues, navigate the region, visit checkpoints, and solve the final puzzle. No element of luck determines the winner.
Terrain and Accessibility
Checkpoints vary by event and may include parks, paths, historic sites, and other public outdoor spaces. Accessibility depends on the route and terrain for that specific hunt.
Each event page includes notes on walking distance, surfaces, and any expected physical requirements so you can choose the hunt that fits you best.
Entry, Safety, and Refunds
- Entry fee: $8
- All entries are non-refundable unless the event is canceled
- Participants must follow normal safety practices and local laws
- Selfies are used only for verification and audit, and are deleted after review
- Checkout is handled securely by Square — we never see or store your card details
